Use the agency that matches the record type or custody system:

  • For someone in Gratiot County Jail, start with jail inmate records and call the Jail Division if the JailTracker roster does not load or does not answer the question.
  • For a booking photo, use jail roster mugshots first, then route a written request through Gratiot County FOIA if the photo is not online.
  • For charges, hearing dates, or record checks after a booking, use court records after a jail arrest, MiCOURT, the 65B District Court live docket, or court staff.
  • For records not shown online, use the Gratiot County FOIA page and the county FOIA packet for sheriff-held booking records, incident reports, mugshots, and other nonexempt public records.
  • For a sentenced Michigan prisoner, use MDOC OTIS at mdocweb.state.mi.us/OTIS2/Search; OTIS is separate from the Gratiot County jail roster.
  • For custody notifications, use Michigan VINELink at vinelink.vineapps.com/state/MI, the state VINE service described as free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day.
  • For a federal sentenced inmate, use the BOP inmate locator at bop.gov/inmate_locator. Federal pretrial custody may require federal court or U.S. Marshals Western District of Michigan channels.
  • For immigration detention, use ICE ODLS at locator.ice.gov; it searches by A-number or biographical information under ICE/CBP locator rules.
